Jackson started dealing in narcotics at the age of 12 when his grandparents thought he was attending after-school programs and brought guns and drug money to school. In 10th grade, he was caught by metal detectors at Andrew Jackson High School.
Jackson has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and has won several awards, including a Grammy Award, thirteen Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and four BET Awards.
On October 13, 1996, Jackson’s girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins gave birth to son Marquise Jackson.
Jackson cites Boogie Down Productions, Big Daddy Kane, The Juice Crew, EPMD and KRS-One as his rap influences, while citing LL Cool J as the inspiration for his writing of “21 Questions”
