Edie Yvonne celebrates her 15th birthday with one of her most potent and relatable songs.

LA-based teenage pop star Edie Yvonne shares her incredible new single, ‘Girl Code,’ on the day she turns 15.

Edie Yvonne’s new single comes after one of the busiest years in the life of this born artist and performer. 2023 saw Edie commit to releasing roughly one song monthly to sharpen her abilities as an artist and continue giving great music to her massive fanbase.

This commitment resulted in some of the best pop tracks you’ll have heard this year. The delightfully sinister song ‘Darkness Bliss,’ the atmospheric ballad ‘Stain,’ and the dance-influenced ‘Queen Bee’ all showed the versatility of Edie Yvonne as an artist. But even as she dabbled in different genres and styles, her music was underpinned by brilliant, introspective lyrics that sought to capture the feeling of being a teenager in the modern day.

This latest single marks a departure from Edie’s previous songs, as, for the first time, she found herself teaming up with producer Rio Root and songwriter Maddy Simmen. These new collaborations have been successful in helping Edie evolve her sound. She continues to defy easy genre categorization with this new song – it’s alternative rock but with exciting elements of punk and power-pop thrown in for good measure. The production here is lean and understated, allowing Edie’s lyrics to unleash their full power.

Edie Yvonne’s ability to navigate the emotional spectrum in “Girl Code” is a testament to her artistry. The song is not merely a confrontation but a multifaceted exploration of human experience. As she defiantly challenges with lines like “Keep running your mouth and spreading your lies,” the listener is drawn into a sonic battlefield, where each lyric is a strategic move. The dynamism of the song lies not only in its combative elements but also in Edie’s capacity to seamlessly transition between cutting aggression and vulnerable sincerity. When she sings, “You hurt me again and again,” the listener can’t help but feel affected by the honesty of her words.

Edie’s consistent thematic exploration is evident in the connection between “Girl Code” and her previous work, particularly songs like “Queen Bee.” These compositions collectively form a narrative universe that delves into the challenges of adolescence, portraying the struggle to find one’s way in a complex world. Edie herself elucidates that these tracks are part of a broader exploration of the teenage experience, where uncertainties abound. In conjunction with the release of her latest single, Edie has taken a proactive step by penning a GIRL CODE manifesto. This manifesto, beyond being a lyrical extension, serves as a call to action, advocating for kindness and compassion in a world that often feels discordant.

As well as being a music artist, Edie is also a noted child actress, where she made a significant mark as a child actress. Her role in the short film “Kitty,” under the direction of Chloe Sevigny, marked a notable beginning. Edie’s journey continued with impactful performances in short films such as “Lola: Girl Got A Gun” and “At Ease,” showcasing her versatility and depth as an artist. Her seamless transition between music and acting underscores Edie Yvonne’s multifaceted creative prowess, solidifying her status as a notable figure in the entertainment industry.

Edie will continue releasing new music before her debut album’s release, which is due shortly.
