Before Fame

He grew up in a Catholic family that attended mass every Sunday. Gustav preferred his eldest son, Meinhard, to Arnold. His favoritism was “strong and blatant”, which stemmed from an unfounded suspicion that Arnold was not his biological son. Schwarzenegger said his father “had no patience to listen to or understand your problems.”

He was the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011. As of 2020, he is the most recent Republican governor of California.

Family Life

On April 26, 1986, Schwarzenegger married Shriver in Hyannis, Massachusetts. They have four children: Katherine Eunice Schwarzenegger (born December 13, 1989), Christina Maria Aurelia Schwarzenegger (born July 23, 1991), Patrick Arnold Shriver Schwarzenegger (born September 18, 1993), and Christopher Sargent Shriver Schwarzenegger (born September 27, 1997). On May 9, 2011, Shriver and Schwarzenegger ended their relationship after 25 years of marriage, with Shriver moving out of the couple’s Brentwood mansion.
