Paperless Tickets: A Step Towards Eliminating Tedious Ticketing Process

People have been clamoring for a better ticketing system ever since Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour’s malfunction last year caused controversy.

The proposed solution is to use blockchain technology to create a fair and transparent ticketing system.

It would be much more difficult for scalpers to purchase numerous tickets and resell them for astronomical prices by using a decentralized platform that allowed for real-time tracking and recording of ticket sales.

Additionally, blockchain technology will allow fans to buy tickets directly from artists and venues, eliminating middlemen and reducing the chance of fraud.

Another possible solution is to implement dynamic pricing. This allows ticket prices to fluctuate based on demand, rather than being locked into a fixed price.

This would make it simpler for fans to buy tickets at a reasonable price and would deter scalpers from buying up large numbers of tickets.

Another solution is to use paperless tickets. This eliminates the need for physical tickets and reduces the possibility of fraud.

Instead, fans used their IDs and codes sent to their mobile phones to access concerts. This way the tickets cannot be resold, making it more difficult for scalpers to buy and resell large numbers of tickets.

Utilizing lottery systems is yet another solution. In order to purchase a limited number of tickets, this would enable fans to participate in a lottery. In addition to removing the need for fans to spend hours in online lines, this would decrease the likelihood that ticket scalpers would purchase a significant number of tickets.

Drop Ticketing Prices

Caity Baser have slashed ticket prices for their upcoming UK tour, a breath of fresh air in an industry that has seen prices skyrocket in recent years. Rising concert ticket prices have become a major concern for music fans as many concert tickets have been slashed in the market.

Many artists and venues have cited the need to combat the impact of streaming on their incomes as a reason for the rising prices.

However, it’s important to remember that the cost of living crisis is affecting people all over the country, and it’s great to see an artist like Caity Baser taking a stand and making her concerts more affordable for her fans.

It’s also worth noting that this is not the first time an artist has taken this approach. Some of the biggest names in music have also lowered their ticket prices to make their concerts more accessible to fans. For example, Ed Sheeran’s UK tour tickets in 2019 were priced between £37 and £88, which is significantly lower than many of his contemporaries.

Cross-Out the Queues

YellowHeart and Dice are just two examples of companies looking to revolutionize the way concert tickets are sold. By using more advanced technology, they aim to make the process faster, more efficient and less frustrating for customers.

One of the main issues with traditional ticketing systems is their inability to handle large volumes of traffic, leading to long wait times and often crashing websites. With the rise of digital ticketing and mobile devices, the demand for concert tickets has only increased, making this problem even more pressing.

Another issue is the use of bots and scalpers who are able to purchase large quantities of tickets in a short period of time, leaving little for actual fans to buy.

Many companies are now implementing measures to combat this, such as using Captcha verification and limiting the number of tickets that can be purchased per person.

Ticketing Prices and Slot

The issue of ticket scalping, or the reselling of concert tickets at inflated prices, is also a major problem for fans. The use of bots to quickly purchase large numbers of tickets and resell them at a profit has made it difficult for fans to get their hands on tickets at face value.

To combat this, some countries have implemented stricter laws and regulations on ticket reselling, such as capping resell prices or requiring sellers to disclose their identity.

However, some experts argue that the solution lies in the use of technology. Blockchain, for example, can be used to create a transparent and secure ticketing system that makes it harder for scalpers to operate.

Ultimately, it is important for the music industry to find ways to make the ticket buying process fair and accessible for all fans, whether it’s through fairer ticket allocation or the use of innovative technology. Fans should not have to spend hours in virtual queues or overpay for tickets just to see their favorite artists perform live.

No Hiding Behind the Bush Fees

Service fees, handling charges, and delivery fees can add a significant amount to the cost of a concert ticket. These additional charges, which can range from 10% to 27% of the ticket’s original price, can be a surprise to many concert-goers.

One example of this is a fan who purchased six tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, only to find an additional $475 charge at checkout. This is not uncommon, and many ticket sellers use these fees to make the initial ticket price seem more affordable.

Industry experts believe that these fees are kept separate to insulate artists from criticism, as the public will blame the ticket sellers rather than the performers.

Bob Lefsetz, an analyst, recently stated, “Fees were created to create another pile of money. Ticketmaster has been paid to take the heat over that for forever, so the public will never hate the act.”

Ticket sellers such as Ticketmaster argue that they want to show customers the full price from the outset, but only if everyone else in the industry agrees to do the same.

In a financial statement last year, Ticketmaster stated, “We have seen all-in pricing adopted successfully in many countries. This only works if all ticketing marketplaces adopt together, so that consumers truly can accurately compare as they shop for tickets.”

The Art of Andrew Neil: Music, Covers, and Beyond

Andrew Neil is a rare gem in the music industry – a true outsider artist. Born in Colorado Springs, Andrew’s life took a turn for the worse when he suffered a traumatic head injury in a car accident in 2009. This event marked the beginning of his struggles with mental illness and a journey of self-discovery through music.

Despite never learning to play a cover song or even basic chord shapes, Andrew has written over 400 songs, mostly on guitar. His unique, almost grunge-like style is reminiscent of Nirvana’s unplugged concert in 1994. In 2013, a bad psychotic episode landed him in a Virginia state hospital where he wrote and recorded the album “Code Purple.” The album was well-received and earned him recognition as one of the best outsider music artists by Rankers List.

Andrew‘s music career took off in 2018 when he met Charlottesville-based producer Andy Waldeck. Under Andy’s direction, Andrew released his first studio album, “Merry Go Round,” which received excellent reviews and even charted on college radio stations. The next two albums, “Freak” and “Sunny Side,” further cemented Andrew’s position as a talented musician, with authenticity in his voice and a bluesy, math rock and shoegaze-infused aesthetic.

Despite being diagnosed with aggressive Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2019, Andrew didn’t let cancer get in the way of his passion for music. In fact, he finished recording the album “Freak” and released it that year.

Andrew Maternick is a true artist in every sense of the word. He not only creates musical masterpieces, but he places just as much importance on the cover art. He worked with his brother, Kyle Scott Maternick, an accomplished abstract artist, to create the cover art for two of Andrew’s albums, “Code Purple” and “Freak.”

Another talented artist, Daniel Benayun, created the cover art for “Merry Go Round,” “Sunny Side,” and “Alien.” Andrew recognizes the importance of collaboration and is grateful to have such talented individuals contributing to his vision. Each cover perfectly captures the essence of the music contained within.

Today, Andrew continues to write and perform his music, primarily at local open mics in Charlottesville. He has recently put together a band with the hope of sharing his music on bigger stages. Andrew’s story is a testament to the power of music in healing and the resilience of the human spirit.

Fans of Andrew’s work can collect his albums on CD and limited-run vinyl. “Code Purple,” “Merry Go Round,” and “Freak” were each pressed 300 times, while “Sunny Side” and “Alien” are even rarer, with only 100 and 200 presses, respectively. In addition to his musical creations, a book titled “Kind of Hurt” is in the works to chronicle Andrew’s journey through mental illness and cancer and the role music played in his life. As Andrew continues to gain recognition on a national and international level, his impact on the music world will only continue to grow.

Pop icon Madonna embarks on a tour to mark the 40th anniversary of her breakout single “Holiday.”

The tour kicks off in Vancouver, Canada in July and will take place in New York, Barcelona, Paris, Stockholm and Amsterdam, ending on December 1st.

So far, only one date has been announced for the UK, at London’s O2 Arena on October 14th. However, Madonna’s schedule is clear for a week on either side of that date, suggesting more shows will be announced as the initial dates sell out.

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible, in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in a statement.

The press release for the tour also states that it “will take us on Madonna’s artistic journey through four decades and pays respect to the city of New York where her career in music began.”

With 63 top 10 hits in the UK, including 13 number one singles, Madonna will have no shortage of songs to choose from for the setlist. Fans can expect to hear classic hits such as “Into The Groove,” “Like A Prayer,” “Vogue,” and “Hung Up,” among many others.

In the past, Madonna has avoided performing some of her biggest hits on tour, explaining in a 2017 interview with the BBC, “Some songs I’m sick of doing and I don’t want to do them.”

She went on to say, “So if I did Material Girl on the tour before, or Express Yourself on the tour before, then I’ll say, ‘OK, I did that for 88 shows. I can’t do it again.'”

The “Celebration” tour will be Madonna’s first formal greatest hits tour since her 2004 “Reinvention” concerts.

Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10:00 local time on Friday, January 20th, with pre-sales for fan club members starting on Tuesday, January 17th (North America) and Wednesday, January 18th (Europe).

Madonna Won’t Stop

Despite this, the Madame X Tour was a financial success, grossing over $410 million and becoming the highest-grossing tour by a female artist ever. This is a testament to Madonna’s enduring popularity and the dedication of her fans.

In an interview with V Magazine in 2021, Madonna spoke candidly about her health issues during the Madame X Tour, revealing that she had been suffering from a lack of cartilage in her right hip.

Despite this, she was determined to complete the tour, saying, “I had no cartilage left in my right hip, and everyone kept saying, ‘You gotta stop, you gotta stop.’ I said, ‘I will not stop. I will go until the wheels fall off’.”

Madonna’s determination to continue with the tour despite her health issues is a testament to her dedication as an artist and her commitment to her fans.

In the same interview, she also hinted that she may not be done touring yet, saying, “I don’t think about stopping. I could have done a stadium tour, greatest hits, and made a billion dollars.”

Overall, the Madame X Tour was a defining moment in Madonna’s career, showcasing her resilience, dedication and enduring popularity as an artist. Fans can look forward to the possibility of more touring from Madonna in the future.

Famous on TikTok

In September of last year, a decade-old leaked demo called “Back That Up To The Beat” also resurfaced on the app, garnering thousands of videos and prompting Madonna to give the demo an official release in December.

The song, which served as a bonus track on her album Madame X, was a vastly different version than the leaked demo.

In addition to the release of the demo, Madonna also released a career-spanning compilation album in 2021 called Finally Enough Love.

The album featured dance remixes of her biggest hits, with 20 of the tracks being rare recordings that were being officially released for the first time.

Furthermore, the album reached number three in the UK charts and was the first project under Madonna’s new deal with Warner Music for an “extensive, multi-year series of catalog releases that will revisit the groundbreaking music that made her an international icon.”

Madonna’s music has found a renewed popularity on TikTok, and her fans can look forward to more exciting releases as part of her deal with Warner Music. The pop icon’s music continues to resonate with new generations, proving her lasting impact in the music industry.

Country Singer Maren Morris Expresses Regret for Industry’s Past Treatment of LGBTQ+ on RuPaul’s Drag Race

During her appearance as a guest judge on Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, country singer Maren Morris offered sincere apologies to the contestants.

Morris shared a touching moment with Queens in the Untacked Clip, expressing regret over how the country music industry has treated the LGBTQ+ community in the past.

The Grammy winner also included LGBTQ+ activist Ts Madison, who served as a guest judge.

Morris, a vocal supporter of LGBTQ rights, took advantage of the opportunity to discuss the problems with representation and acceptance in the country music industry. The episode included a challenge with a country theme.

“Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry,” Morris stated. “I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music. So I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me.”

“I’m gonna cry,” she continued.

The queens were visibly moved by Morris’ apology and thanked her for using her platform to raise awareness of the issue. Praised Morris for his honesty and willingness to address issues head-on.

“Just you being here shows you’re an ally,” Mistress Isabelle Brooks stated to the visibly emotional country crooner.

Spice said in a confessional, “I love hearing Maren share her story because a lot of times with country artists, they can’t really express their more progressive ideals. Just her being here shows she’s down to roll with the LGBT.”

LGBTQ+ Platform Support

Morris has long been a staunch supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has repeatedly used her platform to fight discrimination and promote acceptance and love.

Last year, the icon got into a fight with Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany Aldean, a conservative social media influencer, after she made transphobic comments.

Morris famously slammed Aldean as “Insurrection Barbie” and a “scumbag human,” which prompted conservative TV host Tucker Carlson to call her a “lunatic” and “fake country music singer.”

In response, Morris released new merchandise that read “lunatic country music person” and announced that proceeds would be split between Trans Lifeline and GLAAD’s Transgender Media Program.

This move not only showed her support for the LGBTQ+ community but also her willingness to stand up against hate and discrimination, and use her platform to make a difference.

Morris also recently hit back against Candace Cameron Bure’s comments about keeping traditional marriages at the core of the faith-based Great American Family network.

Referencing Bure’s Full House character DJ Tanner, she wrote to “make DJ gay again” on Instagram, which was a clear indication of her support for the LGBTQ+ community and her desire for more representation in media.

In conclusion, Maren has been a true ally to the LGBTQ+ community and has used her platform to promote acceptance and love.

Her apology on RuPaul’s Drag Race and her actions in the past, such as her response to Aldean’s transphobic remarks and Bure’s comments, show that she is committed to making a positive impact and fighting for the rights of the marginalized communities.

Miley Cyrus Shares the Stage with Sia, Paris Hilton, and David Byrne

During Miley Cyrus’ performance at her exclusive Miley’s New Year’s Eve party, Sia shouted, “Ready for this?!” However, no one was prepared for what followed.

Sia joined Cyrus for the first verse of Paris Hilton’s 2006 performance of hit dance-pop “Stars Are Blind”. But to end the set, the group invited none other than Hilton herself to the stage.

“I told you I had another surprise!” Hilton said on Instagram of the reveal. “I had so much fun singing #StarsAreBlind on @MileyCyrus’ New Years Eve Special with Miley & @SiaMusic! The perfect way to ring in 2023 and celebrate my new version of this iconic song.”

Although Hilton had earlier in the week released a revamped version of “Stars Are Blind” as a preview for “brand-new music” coming in 2023, her attendance at the high-profile Miami event still caught the audience off guard.

Even after attending the New Year’s party, he continued to tease on Instagram.

“I can’t wait to show you all the other exciting things I’m working on. This is only the beginning! Happy new year!” she added.

“It’s Paris Hilton!” Sia yelled as they ended the performance.

“That’s hot!” Hilton responded into her microphone.

Miley’s New Year’s Eve party, hosted by Cyrus and Dolly Parton, was held on Saturday night in Miami on NBC. Rae Sremmurd of the group joined as a special guest.

Aside from Sarah Sherman from Comedy Central and the comedy troupe Please Don’t Destroy, Chloe Fineman from Saturday Night Live also made an appearance.

Byrne Performance

Miley Cyrus appeared as part of the cast of celebrity friends at NBC’s epic New Year’s Eve holiday party on Friday night (December 31). She invited Dolly Parton to perform some duets with her at the event, and David Byrne joined them.

The lead track from his 2018 album American Utopia, “Everybody’s Coming to My House,” was performed by Cyrus alongside Talking Heads singer David Byrne. Together with Byrne, she also performed the classic “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie.

A backing band that included a brass section, keyboardists, guitars, backing vocalists, and more was present for both performances. The performance can be seen here.

2020 saw the release of Cyrus’ seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts. She followed up the release earlier this year with Attention: Miley Live, a 26-track album of songs that were partially recorded during her appearance at the Super Bowl Music Fest in November 2021.

Courtney Love Says Kurt Cobain and Lana Del Rey Are Music Geniuses

According to Courtney Love, Kurt and Lana top her list of musical greats.

In an interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, the singer/songwriter identified her late husband Kurt Cobain and the artist Lana Del Rey as the only two genuine musical geniuses she had ever personally encountered.

“They can Spielberg anything,” the Hole lead singer said in an interview with Maron. “[R.E.M.’s Michael] Stipe? Bono? Yes, these are people that I know and love. Billie Joe [Armstrong], sure. But Lana? She’s got a magic thing. And she’s not even f—ed up!”

During the 2015 Endless Summer Tour, Love made six stops with Del Rey, telling Maron that Del Rey was a “real, true, fantastic friend.”

“She’s got the integrity Kurt had,” Love stated. “The only two people I know that I can say [that about].”

Love is the version of Nirvana’s “Plateau,” “Oh Me,” and “Lake of Fire” (the three Meat Puppets songs the band performed on the 1993 MTV Unplugged special), and a version of Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl.” Contrasted with Ray’s feminized production.

She also told Maron that she met singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell while she and Del Rey were passing the time in Portland and that their meeting had an impact on Del Rey’s “f—-ing whole thing.”

“My boomer rock critic friends are calling after Norman Rockwell, ‘Hey your friend, she’s pretty good,'” Love recalled. “And I said to her, ‘Welcome to the Thunderdome, Ms. Del Rey.'”

Love and Maron also talked about Love’s first studio album, following Hole’s 2010’s Nobody’s Daughter. The song title “Kill F—- Marry” was believed to be based on the defamation case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana and the epitome of the 1990s grunge alternative rock movement, committed suicide on April 5, 1994 at the age of 27.

Cobain and His Greatness

From February 20, 1967, to around April 5, 1994, American musician Kurt Donald Cobain served as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter for the rock band Nirvana.

The thematic boundaries of popular rock music were pushed by Kurt Cobain’s disturbing songs and subversive imagery. He has been hailed as the voice of Generation X and is considered one of the most important artists in the development of alternative rock.

Cobain formed Nirvana in 1987 with Chris Novoselic and Aaron Burkhard, establishing it as part of the grunge movement that originated in Seattle.

Nirvana achieved international popularity with “Smells Like Teen Spirit” off their critically praised second album, Nevermind after signing with major label DGC Records (1991).

Following Nirvana’s unexpected success, Cobain was lauded as the voice of his generation, but he disliked this, feeling that the general public had misunderstood his message and artistic vision.

Other songs that Cobain composed for Nirvana besides “Smells Like Teen Spirit” include “Come as You Are,” “Lithium,” “In Bloom,” “Something in the Way,” “Heart-Shaped Box,” “All Apologies,” “About a Girl,” “Aneurysm,” and “You Know You’re Right.”

Dilemma

In the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with chronic health conditions like depression and heroin addiction. He also struggled with the rigors of fame on a personal and professional level and had a contentious marriage to fellow musician Courtney Love.

Later, Cobain underwent an intervention and entered a detoxification program after overdosing on champagne and Rohypnol in March 1994.

The singer was discovered dead at his Seattle residence on April 8, 1994, at the age of 27. Police later determined he had passed away on April 5 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

Along with comrades Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl from Nirvana, Cobain was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, their first year of eligibility.

By Rolling Stone, Cobain was listed among the 100 Greatest Songwriters, 100 Greatest Guitarists, and 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

In its list of the “22 Greatest Voices in Music,” MTV rated him seventh. On Hit Parader’s list of the “100 Greatest Metal Singers of All Time” from 2006, he was ranked 20th.

K-Pop Icon Jin, First Member of BTS to Enter Service

BTS’ Jin has become the first member of the iconic group to begin his military service in South Korea.

And as one of K-pop’s biggest names and oldest members, fans and aficionados of the industry will miss Jin for at least two years.

On Tuesday, a 30-year-old started his recruiting journey with an adorable new look – the classic military haircut. He proudly documented this milestone with a photo as he prepared to join the ranks of brave Korean soldiers and soldiers.

“It looks cuter than I expected,” he stated.

South Korea remains in a state of unresolved conflict with North Korea; therefore, all eligible men are required to serve their country through military service.

Jin embarks on an exciting but daunting journey to the Korean border for five weeks of boot camp training – no mean feat.

Fans of the soldier were thrilled when it was announced he would be assigned to a frontline unit, prompting an outpouring of support for his incredible bravery.

An Expectation for Jin

So what can Jin expect when he’s on the front line?

Jin has recently joined an intense military boot camp in Yeoncheon, where recruits tough out their training by sleeping on rugged mats amongst a crowd of 30.

Among other drills and lessons learned here, they are taught the indispensable skills to handle weapons as well as fire live ammunition before being tested in realistic wartime simulations.

Cadets were presented with some of the toughest tests imaginable: from being locked inside a gas chamber to feel first-hand the effects CS gas has, as well as having to detonate an active grenade.

After rigorous training, Jin will be assigned to a frontline unit at the edge of North Korea – ready and prepared for anything.

North and South Korea have been separated for decades by a 2.5-mile swath of land, the infamous Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). At odds with one another, these two nations are heavily guarded by barbed wire fences that stretch along their borders to control access.

Training Experience

Yang Soo-yeon, who graduated from Yeoncheon last year, has taken on the great responsibility of defending one of the world’s most important borders.

As an out-post guard at the DMZ, Yang surveyed North Korean forces through his thermal imaging equipment during long nights on watch with the 5th Infantry Division – indeed, a frontline position that demanded vigilance and courage.

“A few times, I saw the North Korean soldiers being beaten, either kicked or slapped in the face,” he stated. “They had to do manual labor because they didn’t have nice equipment like us to help them.”

After witnessing the North Korean soldiers, Yang reflected on his own life and felt immense appreciation for what he had.

“When I saw what they had to do, I realized, ‘Wow, I am so much more comfortable.’ I would feel sorry for them,” he noted.

BTS’s Jin will soon face the fury of a fierce winter! Yang remembers struggling against brisk winds and treacherous snowdrifts to shovel when temperatures plummeted as low -as 20C.

“When we went outside, our eyelashes would freeze,” he stated. “Because we carried guns loaded with ammunition, we had to remain calm, so there was no harassment or beatings.”

While many enlisted in the military for its benefits, Yang was eager to serve his country through an elevated level of commitment. He volunteered as a frontline guard and had the opportunity to enjoy more time off base than other ranks.

Jin may find himself further from the demilitarized zone than Heo Sungyoung, who spent two years with the 6th Corps Command Centre.

South Korea Mandatory

Young men living in South Korea feel the strain of mandatory military service, which often forces them to take a break from their studies and careers – not to mention time away from family and friends.

For months, speculation swirled in South Korea that the Army could grant a special allowance and exempt members of BTS from mandatory military service due to their immense contribution to the country’s economy.

Many argued that permitting them to continue producing lucrative earnings would be best for national interests instead.

In October, BTS shocked fans as they each announced their plans to join the military. Jin was set to take on this responsibility as the oldest member first.

Fans were shocked by the news that their beloved star was being deployed to fight on a dangerous front line, having expected less hazardous duties.

Celebrities once enjoyed certain privileges while serving in the military, but when people discovered that some were receiving preferential treatment, public outcry ensued.

As a result of this discontent and pressure from the civilian leadership, 2013 saw an end to these unequal standards with the abolishment of any two-tier system for celebrity service members.

Jin’s fans have been fervently expressing their love and admiration for him with an impressive outpouring of messages.

They are undoubtedly heartbroken to see the singer-songwriter embarking on a break from social media – but there is comfort in knowing that his devoted fan base will eagerly await Jin’s eventual return.

“Please take care and bring enough warm clothes and medicine,” Maliah Leah wrote. “I hope your colleagues treat you well. We will be waiting patiently for your comeback.”
