Before Fame

Saverin attended the Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami. He then attended Harvard University, where he resided at Eliot House, a member of Phoenix S.K. Club, and president of the Harvard Investment Association. While a college student at Harvard, Saverin used his interest in meteorology to predict hurricane patterns, making $ 300,000 through oil futures investments.


During his freshman year at Harvard, Saverin met another Harvard college student, sophomore Mark Zuckerberg. Noting the lack of a dedicated social networking website for Harvard students and teamed up to launch Facebook in 2004.

Family Life

Since 2009 Saverin has been based in Singapore. Saverin and Elaine Andriejanssen, a Chinese Indonesian who studied at Raffles Girls’ School and Tufts University, became engaged on March 27, 2014 and got married on June 25, 2015, in the French Riviera.
