Alfred Thomas Highmore is an English actor.
Freddie Highmore is a British actor best known for starring in two acclaimed American television series, “Bates Motel” and “The Good Doctor”.
Although he comes from a family of actors and theaters, Highmore does not appear to have received any special education in theater. He says he went to a “normal” school in his neighborhood in North London. “I would work in LA and then return to my normal situation,” he told The Telegraph. “Acting was a hobby, not an end game.”
Highmore was still a student at the University of Cambridge in England, close to completing a degree in Arabic and Spanish when he began filming the first season of Bates Motel in 2013.
Highmore was born in the Camden Town district of London. His father, Edward Highmore, is also an actor whose credits have mainly appeared on British television, including Doctor Who and the British series Howard’s Way.
Highmore got his lead starting with Finding Neverland (2004), directed by Marc Forster. Highmore played Peter Llewelyn Davies and got the chance to work opposite Johnny Depp (who played Barrie) and Kate Winslet (who played her mother Sylvia). The young actor developed a relationship with Depp, and the two remain in touch to this day.
