John Joseph Travolta is an American actor, singer, dancer, and pilot.


John Travolta is an award-winning actor who has had major roles in “Saturday Night Fever” and “Grease”. He had a career rebirth with “Pulp Fiction” and starred in a wide variety of additional projects.

Before Fame

John Joseph Travolta was born February 18, 1954 in Englewood, New Jersey. The youngest of six children born into an entertainer family, Travolta dropped out of high school by age 16 to pursue an acting career.


He made his debut in an off-Broadway production of Rain (1972) and then joined the Broadway cast of Grease as a stand-in as Doody. He was later part of the original cast of the hit musical Over Here! 1974, with Patty and Maxine Andrews starring Marilu Henner.

Family Life

Travolta married actress Kelly Preston in 1991. The couple’s first child, Jett, was born on April 13, 1992, and their daughter Ella Bleu, born in 2000. On fatherhood, Travolta said: “Having children is something you cannot always do. Kids are like lightning. Get that lightning bolt when you can. ” Preston passed away on July 12, 2020, after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

After Travolta appeared in the 2014 thriller The Forger, it was announced in early 2015 that he would be joining the cast of the FX anthology series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, looking at Simpson’s arrest and the volatile circumstances surrounding the related murder case in 1995.
