John Christopher Depp II is an American actor, producer, and musician.


John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, producer and musician. He was nominated for ten Golden Globes, winning one for Best Actor for his portrayal of the lead role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), and was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Actor awards. He is considered one of the world’s greatest movie stars.

Before Fame

With the gift of a guitar from his mother at the age of 12, Depp started playing in several bands. A year after his parents’ divorce, he left Miramar High School to become a rock musician; he tried to go back to school two weeks later, but the principal told him to make his dream of becoming a musician come true.


Depp is the 10th highest-grossing actor in the world, as films with Depp grossed over $ 3.7 billion at the box office in the United States and more than $ 10 billion worldwide.

Family Life

Depp began a relationship with French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, whom he met while filming The Ninth Gate in France in 1998. They have two children, daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp (born 1999) and son John Christopher “Jack” Depp III (born 2002).

Associated With

Depp and Paradis grew grapes and had wine making facilities in their Plan-de-la-Tour vineyard north of Saint-Tropez. Along with Sean Penn, John Malkovich and Mick Hucknall, Depp is co-owner of the French bar-restaurant Man Ray, located near the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
