Rachel Anne McAdams is a Canadian actress. After graduating in theater from York University in 2001. In 2002 she made her Hollywood film debut in the comedy The Hot Chick. McAdams rose to fame in 2004 with the comedy Mean Girls and the romantic drama The Notebook.

Before Fame

McAdams started figure skating when she was four years old, but declined a chance to move to Toronto when she was nine to train in pair skating. He competed in skating until the age of 18 and won regional awards.


In 2006, McAdams participated in the “Day Without Immigrants” demonstration in Los Angeles, protesting the federal government’s efforts to further criminalize undocumented immigrants living in the United States.

Family Life

As of 2018, McAdams will split her time between Toronto and Los Angeles. She and her partner, the American screenwriter Jamie Linden, have a son (born in April 2018).
