Vera Ann Farmiga is an American actress, director, and producer.


Vera Ann Farmiga is an American actress, director and producer. She started her professional acting career on stage in the original Broadway production of Taking Sides (1996).

Before Fame

In 1991, she graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School. During her junior year there, she took up acting after sitting on the couch during a soccer game for varsity; her friend convinced her to audition for the school production of The Vampire, and she won the lead role of Lady Margaret.


Farmiga portrayed paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren in the films The Conjuring Universe The Conjuring (2013), The Conjuring 2 (2016), and Annabelle Comes Home (2019).

Family Life

She started dating Deadsy musician Renn Hawkey after being introduced by mutual friend Allen Hughes on the set of Touching Evil. They were married on September 13, 2008, when Farmiga was five months pregnant with their first child. She gave birth to a son in Rhinebeck, New York and a daughter in November 2010.

Associated With

Farmiga won a Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for Best Actress and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Role for her performance in Down to the Bone (2004).[41] She won a British Independent Film Award for Best Actress for The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008).
