Lon Levin, a celebrated contemporary artist and former creative director for major film studios like 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., and Sony, has spent a lifetime perfecting the art of visual storytelling. With a career spanning advertising, children’s book illustration, and fine art, Levin has continually reinvented himself while maintaining an unwavering commitment to creative expression.

Levin’s early career in film advertising earned him acclaim as a leading creative force behind high-profile campaigns, including the original Star Wars trilogy. Over 23 years, he rose through the ranks to hold executive positions, crafting award-winning campaigns for film, television, and online platforms. In 2006, Levin transitioned to illustrating children’s books, completing 33 titles before finding a new passion in fine art.

The onset of the pandemic marked a transformative chapter in Levin’s life. He and his wife relocated from Los Angeles to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where the town’s rich artistic culture inspired him to further explore his craft. Levin’s work quickly garnered attention, leading to exhibitions in Milan, Barcelona, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, and New York.

His art, which ranges from traditional to experimental mediums, is a fusion of technical mastery and thought-provoking themes. Levin’s series, such as Ocean in Motion and Aquariosity, reflect his deep concern for ocean preservation, while Celebration Romantica delves into the complexities of modern relationships. With Fun With Icons, Levin creates a playful homage to Mexican culture, blending tradition with humor and vibrancy.

“My art is more than just visual expression—it’s a conversation about the world we live in and the stories we share,” Levin explains. “From the resilience of marine life to the beauty of human connection and the vibrant heart of Mexican culture, my work speaks to both the challenges and joys of our time.”

Levin’s versatility as an artist is reflected in the 17 awards he has earned in the past three years across painting, pen and ink, and digital art categories. His work has been featured in online exhibitions and at the prestigious Manuk Gallery in San Miguel de Allende’s famed Fábrica La Aurora, a center for artistic innovation.

Beyond his personal practice, Levin is deeply committed to fostering creativity within the artistic community. As co-creator of Art Today TV, a platform where “artists help artists,” he collaborates with innovator tech guru Gregg Masters, MPH. The platform’s debut project, an immersive exhibition with renowned paper sculptor Terry Tomlinson, is set to open at the Musée de Querétaro in February 2025. This six-room showcase will include an interactive experience produced by Levin and Masters.

Levin’s creative philosophy is rooted in a quote by Pablo Picasso: “Being creative is a condition of the human mind. We are all born with a deep sense of wonder and imagination. The goal is never to lose sight of that childlike curiosity you once had.” Levin’s art embodies this credo, offering viewers a vision of a world filled with positivity, wonder, and connection.

“While my abilities may be at a master level, my focus is on creating art that inspires and contains a vision of positivity,” says Levin. “Art, to me, is about more than mastery; it’s about connection—finding a way to communicate with the viewer on a level that goes beyond words.”

Levin’s ability to transcend traditional boundaries and convey universal themes has made his work a sought-after addition to private collections and public exhibitions alike. His journey from high-profile advertising campaigns to fine art showcases a lifetime dedicated to the evolution of creativity, underscoring his belief that art is a deeply personal journey, not a competition.

When collectors invest in Levin’s work, they are not merely acquiring a piece of art; they are embracing a thoughtful perspective that celebrates creativity, community, and the beauty of life.
