Early Dreams and Inspirations
Oksana Kuznietsova, known as Oksi in the fashion world, was born on October 19, 1992, in the small town of Peremoha. Growing up in a big family, her early years were filled with creativity and dreams. “I remember when I was about four years old, we made fashion shows at home with my sisters. We would watch fashion week on our TV and then do the same, walking from one room to another,” Oksi recalls. These childhood playtimes sparked her enduring passion for modeling and the film industry.
Path to Success
Despite her dreams, Oksi’s path was not straightforward. Based in Amman, Jordan, she became a successful model and actress in 2013. Her journey into the industry began somewhat unexpectedly. “I was working as a dancer in different countries when my friends invited me to Jordan. I saw a WhatsApp group message about a casting call for a fashion show with famous designers. Despite not having professional pictures, they liked me and called me for a fitting,” she shares.
This fitting led to her first fashion show, where she earned good money and opened the runway. This event marked the beginning of her career in the fashion industry. Oksi credits her professional model friend for believing in her and pushing her into the industry. Her friend’s encouragement and the following opportunities laid the foundation for her future success.
Building a Career
After her debut, Oksi’s career quickly gained momentum. Her friend recommended her to her husband’s sister, who was starting an online store on Facebook. A modeling gig for Sibbella Boutique followed this opportunity. One of the most memorable moments of her early career was being approached by Dana Moallem at a restaurant. Dana invited her to model for a charity fashion show, Pink Afternoon Tea, which raised funds for breast cancer patients. This event led to more collaborations with Dana and other designers, photographers, and organizers who contacted her directly.
Challenges and Triumphs
Oksi’s journey was not without its challenges. “Initially, I didn’t see the picture clearly, like a blind kitten, but I kept going and improving,” she admits. She took lessons from her professional model friends, learned modeling terminology, and practiced posing in front of the mirror. Over time, her skills and confidence grew, leading to more significant opportunities.
In addition to modeling, Oksi also worked as an actress and sometimes a posing coach. She built a network of models and acted as an agent, helping to connect clients with the right talent. Her contributions to the modeling industry in Jordan and beyond are significant. She worked as a choreographer in Vancouver and collaborated with organizers of fashion weeks in Jordan and Vancouver. Oksi’s team in Amman includes photographer/videographer Fares Ahmad Ali; producer, videographer, and Creative Director Ahmad Al Ajlani; and makeup artist Mohammad Rasheed Ali, who played a crucial role in her success.
A Landmark Achievement: Miami Swim Week 2024
Oksi’s career reached a new milestone in June 2024 when she participated in Miami Swim Week for the Ruben Singer fashion designer show. This event was a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and passion for the industry. “Participating in Miami Swim Week is a dream come true. It’s a significant achievement and a proud moment in my career,” she says.
Reflections on Her Journey
Looking back, Oksi is grateful for the support she received from her love, family and friends. She acknowledges the influence of her mother, a designer, and grandmother, who made handmade icons for the church. These women inspired her to pursue a career in the beauty industry, which she believes is part of her genetic makeup.
Despite facing language barriers and cultural differences, Oksi’s determination never wavered. One notable incident was when she declined the first-place title at Miss Madam 2022 in Vancouver due to time constraints and her desire to showcase her talent fully. “They were shocked, and I didn’t understand they wanted to give me the first place. It was a sad story, but it taught me the importance of communication and time management,” she reflects.
Looking Forward
As she continues to build her career, Oksi remains dedicated to her passion for modeling and acting. She is proud of her accomplishments and looks forward to more opportunities to showcase her talent. Her journey from a small town in Peremoha to the international runways of Miami, Jordan and Vancouver fashion week is a testament to her hard work, resilience, and unwavering belief in her dreams.
In summary, Oksana Kuznietsova’s story is one of inspiration and determination. From her early days of staging fashion shows at home to walking the runways at Miami Fashion Week, Oksi’s journey is a shining example of what can be achieved with passion, perseverance, and a supportive network. She is proud of her achievements and continues to inspire others in the fashion industry.
