Amazon Prime announced in September 2021 that The Boys had been renewed for a fourth season. The Boys fans are anxiously waiting for the fourth season of the Amazon Prime show. The third season left fans on the edge of their seats with the shocking cliffhanger of Homelander’s son, Ryan, killing his mother, Becca.

The fourth season is expected to be even more intense and action-packed than the previous seasons. The announcement came just a few weeks after the show’s third season premiere, which has been receiving rave reviews from fans and critics alike. But what should fans expect for the upcoming season? Here are some ideas.

1. Release Date

Amazon Prime has not officially announced the release date for The Boys season four. However, fans can expect the season to premiere in the latter half of 2022. While this may seem like a long wait for fans, it’s important to remember that creating a show as complex and visually stunning as The Boys takes time and effort.

The previous seasons were released in July, but the fourth season will likely be released later than usual due to the pandemic-related delays. Of course, there is always the possibility that Amazon Prime could surprise us with an earlier release date for season four. Fans of the show will have to exercise a bit of patience, but we’re sure it will be worth the wait.

2. The Boys Spin-Off Show

The streaming giant has just announced a new spin-off show set in the same universe titled Gen V. It will explore the origins of the supes, focusing on the first-ever generation of superheroes. The Boys has already given us a glimpse into the corrupt and twisted world of supes, but Gen V promises to take us even deeper into their history and shed some light on how they came to be. However, fans can expect the launch in 2024, possibly after the fourth season of The Boys ends.

3. The Boys Crossover

The Boys’ creator, Eric Kripke, has teased a potential crossover between the current and past seasons of the same show. He hinted that the upcoming season might feature some characters from the past seasons, which could lead to some interesting storylines.

Kripke’s comments have sparked much speculation among fans, with many wondering which characters from the past seasons could make a comeback. Some have speculated that Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher, a significant character in the first two seasons, could return.

4. Victoria Neuman Storyline

The third season of The Boys introduced the character of Victoria Neuman, played by Claudia Doumit. Neuman is a congresswoman revealed to have superpowers and is responsible for the heads of state exploding. The character’s story arc is expected to continue in the fourth season, where she will likely face repercussions for her actions.

5. Who is Butcher?

Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, is one of the central characters of The Boys. Butcher is a former SAS soldier who leads the titular group, The Boys, in their mission to take down corrupt superheroes. Butcher is a complex character driven by his hatred for superheroes but also has a softer side that he rarely shows.

In the third season, Butcher’s story arc takes a surprising turn when he discovers that his wife, who he believed to be dead, is alive and raising Homelander’s son. Butcher’s character is expected to continue to evolve in the fourth season as he navigates his conflicting emotions towards his wife and son.

Conclusion

The Boys season four is expected to be another thrilling ride for show fans. There is much to look forward to with the spin-off show, potential crossovers, and the continuation of the Victoria Neuman and Butcher storylines. Although the release date is currently unknown, fans can rest assured that it will be worth the wait when The Boys season four does arrive. John Mayer’s Switch from Fender to PRS: A Closer Look

Securing a signature model with Fender is comparable to obtaining a sponsorship contract with Nike for an athlete. It’s a significant accomplishment, both metaphorically and literally. Fender stands as one of, if not the largest, guitar brands worldwide. It demands admiration, and its guitars are cherished and utilized by legendary musicians, both past and present.

In 2005, John Mayer received his own Fender signature model. Following years of performing and releasing numerous successful albums, Mayer had amassed a substantial fanbase. Many considered him the modern blues champion and likened him to Hendrix. Fender took notice of his prominence and collaborated with John to create the John Mayer Signature Fender Stratocaster.

A more enthusiastic and young Mr. Mayer gladly agreed to Fender’s proposal of creating a unique signature model Strat for him, possibly fulfilling a lifelong dream he had since childhood. It’s important to note that not everyone is granted a Fender signature model. The selection process is exclusive, and Fender is quite particular about who they choose.

His Signature Fender Stratocaster

In 2005, the John Mayer Signature Fender Stratocaster was launched, offering two color choices: Olympic White and Sunburst. Fender also produced a limited number of guitars in other colors, but finding these online today is nearly impossible.

Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Strat somewhat inspired Mayer’s unique Strat, and it featured Big Dipper pickups, which enhanced the low and high-end frequencies, unlike most traditional Strats. Mayer was aiming for a more contemporary sound with his version, so he collaborated closely with Fender to develop a distinct design that set it apart from the typical Strat configuration.

The guitar was in high demand and widely available until 2014. Fender experienced significant sales of this particular model, largely due to Mayer’s popularity during that period. However, when Fender and John Mayer decided to go their separate ways in 2014, the production of this model was discontinued.

Making the Switch to PRS

The separation of Mayer from Fender was akin to a high-profile celebrity divorce within the guitar community. It was an event that captured the attention of many, as it’s not common for someone to simply walk away from Fender. The surprise and shock were palpable when Mayer announced his departure from Fender and transition to PRS. Typically, Fender guitarists stay loyal to the brand for life–such as Jimi Hendrix.

John Mayer’s departure from Fender boils down to a straightforward reason: he aimed to modernize his Stratocaster. Although Mayer had numerous ideas for achieving this, Fender was not keen on altering their Stratocaster, a guitar with a history dating back to the 1950s. Mayer claims that Fender disregarded his suggestions, prompting him to search for another company that could create a guitar tailored to his precise requirements.

This all began around late 2013 or early 2014. The separation caused quite a stir in the guitar community, as it was unusual for such a renowned guitarist to leave a highly recognized guitar brand. Despite the attention-grabbing headlines, there was no actual animosity between Fender and Mayer.

Fender seemed unwilling to entertain Mayer’s suggestions for some reason. The company has established methods and practices, as well as clear boundaries on what it will and will not do. It does not make exceptions or implement significant changes, especially when it comes to its prized Strat and Tele guitars.

These instruments are the foundation of the company. Minor adjustments can be made, but the central design and configuration must remain untouched. Fender considered any deviation from this approach as blasphemous.

Conclusion

Following extensive conversations and an extended research and development phase, PRS and John Mayer finally launched the PRS Silver Sky in 2018. The development of this guitar, which resembles the Strat, took quite some time.

As Mayer mentioned in later interviews, creating a guitar inspired by the Strat requires extreme precision, as even a single millimeter can make a difference. This means that there is no room for shortcuts when producing a guitar that aims to be the spiritual successor to the legendary Fender Strat.

The primary aspect of Mayer’s first PRS guitar was its intention to be nothing more than an updated Strat. In fact, Mayer mentioned in post-release interviews that he couldn’t envision playing anything other than a Strat-style guitar.

Even though John Mayer switched from Fender to PRS, he remains a loyal supporter of Fender. He advises all PRS Silver Sky players to use Fender amplifiers with their guitars. According to Mayer, the PRS Silver Sky was created to complement Fender amps.

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gary Rossington, Passed Away at 71

A legendary Free Bird has taken his final flight.

News of music icon Gary Rossington’s passing swept Lynyrd Skynyrd fans with sadness.

Gary Rossington, founding member and guitarist of iconic Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd passed away on March 5, 2023, roughly four months before the band’s planned tour. Rossington was 71.

No cause of death was declared, but the seasoned guitarist had been experiencing health issues that have gotten worse since the mid-2010s. It can be remembered that there were instances when the band had to take a break because of Rossington’s heart ailments.

Lynyrd Skynyrd released an official statement, “It is without deepest sympathy and sadness that we have to advise that we lost our brother, friend, family member, songwriter, and guitarist, Gary Rossington today. Gary is now with his Skynyrd brothers and family in heaven and playing it pretty like he always does. Please keep Dale, Mary, Annie, and the entire Rossington family in your prayers and respect the family’s privacy at this time.”

The Last Man Standing

Lynyrd Skynyrd, an American rock band, was formed in 1964 in Jacksonville, Florida. The unique name of the band was derived from a P.E. teacher at Robert E. Lee High School, named Leonard Skinner. The said teacher was quite strict, especially with boys with long hair, and was said to be the reason Rossington dropped out of school.

The band gained widespread popularity in the 1970s with their signature southern rock sound, featuring songs like “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Free Bird,” and “Gimme Three Steps.” The band’s original members included Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, Larry Junstrom, Bob Burns, and Billy Powell.

The band Lynyrd Skynyrd faced several tragic events throughout the years, such as the loss of three original members in 1977. A Convair CV-240 plane, transporting the band from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, crashed near Gillsburg, Mississippi.

This accident resulted in the deaths of three band members – Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and his older sister and backup singer Cassie Gaines – as well as assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick and both pilots. Rossington and others sustained serious injuries, leading to the band’s immediate hiatus.

After the tragedy, Gary Rossington formed the band Rossington Collins Band with guitarist Allen Rosington, and the band lasted about four years until they broke up in 1982. Lynyrd Skynyrd reformed in 1987, commemorating the 10th year of the tragic plane crash. After that, the band continued playing, recording nine more studio albums and several lineup changes. Gary Rossington was the only Skynyrd member to play on all the band’s albums.

Rocking ‘Til the End

Despite battling several health issues, Rossington was determined to continue playing to pay tribute to all his fallen bandmates and brothers at heart. He said his fellow members all created such amazing music that still resonated with people today, and him being the last one alive, should be able to tell their story and ensure that they are remembered.

In 2006, Rossington’s wife, Krantz-Rossington, shared that they agreed for Rossington to continue playing because it was the best thing for him. Rossington wanted to go out kicking and just do it until they couldn’t anymore.

Rossington is survived by his wife, two lovely daughters, and a few grandchildren.

Conclusion

The news of music icon Gary Rossington’s death shocks the music world and Lynyrd Skynyrd fans everywhere. He was the last surviving original band member, and his passing marks the end of an era. However, his legacy will live on through the music he created and his impact on the world of rock music. We can only hope that his family, friends, and fans find comfort in knowing that his music will continue to inspire and entertain for generations.

Fly high, Free Bird.
