Alienware area51 threadripper has teamed up with AMD to offer a new line of high-end desktops. The area51 is set to compete directly with the just released CEO edition from the previous-generation Threadripper.

The new line of Alienware area51 threadripper comes with a stunning RGB backlit bezel. And an all-black motherboard, along with Intel’s latest (at the time of launch) X299 or AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper platform.

The new Alienware Area 51 comes with two possible configurations. A stand-alone model, and a full tower variant with a liquid cooling system.

The stand-alone version is powered by an Intel Core i9 X (10). AMD Ryzen Threadripper (X) processor that goes up to 32 PCIe lanes. The liquid-cooled version will be powered by the Intel Core X-series. And uses an overclocked Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in SLI.

Area 51 is aimed at the enthusiast market, and it should be available in the US. The price tag of $2,000 for the stand-alone version and $4,000 for the liquid-cooled version.

The Alienware Area 51’s configuration is similar to Alienware X51 with Intel Core i7 processors on an ASUS ROG motherboard.

It supports up to 32GB of DDR4 memory, up to 7.1 audio. And dual PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slots for NVMe storage.

The Alienware area51 threadripper audio is power by Asus’ SupremeFX S1220 ALC1220 codec. It also comes with an Alienware Graphics Amplifier, which has a DVI-D/HDMI port, DisplayPort connector, and one DisplayPort to Thunderbolt 3 for connecting multiple displays at once.

Although networking, there are two Gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.1 Type C connectors and (one with Thunderbolt 3). There is a smart fan control switch, but also extra cooling fans are include in the box.

Area-51 has also long been Alienware’s flagship gaming desktop and it sits at the top of the company’s product stack. For 2018, Alienware is refreshing the Area-51 with a new design, new hardware options and also a whole lot of RGB lighting.

The new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX and 2950X processors are now officially supported on the Alienware Aurora ALX. The Intel Core i9-9900K is also now supported on this high-end gaming/workstation desktop.

The Aurora ALX is also currently available in a few different configurations and includes the latest Intel and AMD processors. The top-end model comes with an 18-core Intel Core i9-9980XE based on the Skylake XE architecture. The other option is also an AMD Threadripper 2950X 16-core processor with 32 threads based on the Zen+ architecture.

Although Aurora’s motherboard uses the X299 platform and includes dual DDR4 RAM slots, six PCIe 3.0 lanes, and two M.2 ports (PCIe x4). There are two graphics card support options: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 gaming GPU and a Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid cooled graphics card.

The Alienware Area 51 is an all new gaming desktop that will compete directly with the new CEO edition from AMD and Intel. The Area 51 includes an overclockable processor and an array of graphics cards.

The Area 51 is the first desktop to include Intel’s X299 platform, which supports both 8-core (1150/2100) and 6-core (1400/1600) processors. The 6-core processors have 4-channel memory support, while the 8-core processors properly support 4 channels with 8 DIMMs.

The Area 51 also can be configured with up to four 18 or 16 core Intel XCC die Threadripper CPUs along with up to 64GB of DDR4 memory. Graphics options include factory-overclocked GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and also the upcoming RTX 2080 Ti graphics cards.

However, Area 51 will be available in a new black finish with red accents and should support up to 30 monitors. Alienware is also using an external graphics amplifier, which should allow a single cable configuration for multiple displays.

The Alienware Area 51 R5 is the most powerful gaming desktop on the market. The R5 model supports up to four GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards and offers support for overclocking. The Alienware Aurora R6 should offer similar specifications along with a slightly more aggressive pricing structure.
