Andrii Vernyi: ‘A Camera Is Not Just a Tool. It’s a Way to See Deeper’

By: Amanda Roberts

He doesn’t just take pictures — he tells stories through light and shadow. His work is marked by a depth that often resonates even through a screen. In this conversation, he shares his philosophy, his approach to emotion, and why photography, for him, is more than a craft — it’s a way to see the world differently.

Q: Andrii, you’re often described as part of the “new wave” of photographers. What does that term mean to you?

Andrii Vernyi: I think it’s about how we no longer just capture reality — we reinterpret it. For me, photography isn’t about trends; it’s about a state of being. The camera became an extension of my vision back in school. It taught me not just to look, but to truly see.

Q: You started your journey with a small business at the age of 13. How did that shape you as an artist?

Andrii Vernyi: Profoundly. I’ve always lived between two worlds — creativity and entrepreneurship. My first business was selling selfie sticks, and I organized events for thousands of people. That taught me responsibility, decisiveness, and speed. But at night, I was drawing, creating 3D art, searching for myself through visuals. It wasn’t just about making something beautiful — I wanted to understand how it could potentially serve others.

Q: Today, your portfolio spans dozens of countries, brands, and events. How do you stay true to yourself?

Andrii Vernyi: I don’t chase what’s “in style.” What matters to me is the emotional state of the person in the frame. I’m not just shooting clothes or objects — I’m capturing stories, moods, or even the tension of a moment. And that often requires personal connection, co-creation. That’s likely why my work is recognizable.

Q: You’ve developed your own method — the “Emotional Code.” What is it?

Andrii Vernyi: It’s a way of working not with poses, but with emotion. I studied why some images resonate and others don’t. I realized it’s not solely about technique — it’s about honesty. About the inner state of the person in front of the camera. The Emotional Code isn’t a formula — it’s a practice of being present, of sensing people, spaces, light with subtlety. It’s a method informed by psychology, intuition, and a lot of experience.

Q: You also write academic articles about color psychology and the commercial market. Why is that important to you?

Andrii Vernyi: Because photography isn’t just aesthetics — it’s knowledge. I want visual professionals to have tools, not just inspiration, but an understanding of how things work. Color can affect perception; emotion can build brand trust. It’s all connected. And if you understand that, your photography can work on a deeper level.

Q: What inspires you the most right now?

Andrii Vernyi: People. Their stories, emotions, and inner movement. I love listening, observing, and catching details. Sometimes a half-glance can feel like a complete frame. Sometimes the silence between words says more than any pose. I think photography is about trust. And when there’s trust, something real can emerge.

Q: And finally, what would you say to your 13-year-old self — the boy selling selfie sticks and dreaming of a camera?

Andrii Vernyi (smiles): Don’t rush. But don’t stop either. Believe in yourself, even when it’s hard. And remember — the most important things aren’t in front of the lens, but behind it. Because photography isn’t about gear — it’s about presence. About how sincerely you see. And if you truly look with your heart, the camera might simply become a tool that captures the truth.
With every shoot, I rediscover myself. And maybe that’s the essence of photography: it doesn’t just change the image — it changes you.

The Silence That Leaves a Trace

In a world loudly obsessed with trends, speed, and algorithms, Andrii Vernyi speaks of something else. Of depth. Of trust. Of the moment when the world quiets, and something real might be born between light and shadow.

His photography is an invitation to see with your heart. It’s not about taking pictures for the sake of an image — it’s a dialogue with reality, often hidden just outside the frame.
His journey suggests that sincerity has power. That style can be silent, yet deeply resonant. That photography isn’t just a reflection of the world — it’s a way to reimagine it.

An Interview with Ms USA Universe Petite 2025 Winner Adriana Pushchak

By: Margo Holly

After a stunning win on the stage in Las Vegas, Ms USA Universe Petite 2025 crown now rests on the head of Adriana Pushchak—a Ukrainian-born permanent makeup artist, entrepreneur, and a woman whose story speaks of resilience, self-discipline, and unshakable belief. In this interview, Adriana opens up about her emotional victory, the long road that brought her here, and why this crown is about so much more than beauty.

Interviewer: Adriana, congratulations! Take us back to the moment your name was announced. What were you feeling?

Adriana Pushchak: Thank you so much! It’s hard to even put it into words. When they called my name, I froze for a second. I heard the applause, saw the lights—but for me, it was silence. At that moment, I wasn’t just thinking about the crown. I thought about every step that led me here. Every hard decision, every day, I chose to keep going. It was incredibly emotional. I cried because I knew this moment wasn’t just about me—it was about every woman who’s ever doubted herself.

Interviewer: You said something very powerful on stage: “This crown is not only a symbol of my victory—it’s a symbol for all women who choose to believe in themselves every single day.” Can you share what that meant for you personally?

Adriana: That line came from my heart. I’ve met so many women—through my work, through life—who feel like they’re not enough, not seen, not worthy. I’ve felt that too. I wanted to remind them that believing in yourself isn’t always easy, but it’s a daily choice. This crown represents those choices. It’s not about perfection. It’s about courage.

Interviewer: Tell us a bit about your background. Where does your strength come from?

Adriana: I was born in Drohobych, a small town in western Ukraine. My father was a truck driver; my mother worked in a sanatorium. We didn’t have a luxurious life, but we had values—work hard, respect others, never give up. I started dancing when I was little—ballroom dancing for over 10 years. That taught me discipline and grace, both physically and emotionally. Later, I studied psychology in Lviv because my father wanted me to have a stable profession. And it helped. Understanding people and emotions—became part of my foundation.

Interviewer: How did you go from psychology to beauty and then into the world of pageants?

Adriana: Life has its own way of guiding us. I always loved aesthetics, art, and transformation. When I discovered permanent makeup, I fell in love with it—not just because it’s beauty-related, but because it changes how women see themselves. It gives confidence. I trained hard, became a winner… and judged international competitions. But even with all that, I felt a deeper desire to speak—to represent, to inspire. The pageant was a platform that allowed me to share my story and hopefully empower others.

Interviewer: What was the biggest challenge in preparing for Ms USA Universe Petite 2025?

Adriana: The hardest part was emotional. I’m an immigrant. I moved to the U.S. and built everything from scratch. There were doubts. There were times I felt small—like maybe I don’t belong in this kind of spotlight. But I had people who believed in me. Friends, mentors, my team. And I had this quiet fire inside that kept saying, “You are worthy. Keep going.” I trained hard, took every round seriously, and stayed true to myself.

Interviewer: Now that you’re wearing the crown, what comes next?

Adriana: I want to use this platform to speak about self-worth, mental health, and feminine strength. I want to work with young women, especially immigrants and professionals, who are trying to find their voice in a new place. I believe confidence is a skill—something we build with practice, love, and intention. And I want to help others build it.

Interviewer: What advice would you give to the next girl sitting at home, doubting herself, maybe even dreaming of a crown someday?

Adriana: Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start where you are, with what you have. You don’t need permission to shine. Make mistakes, cry, fall—but always get back up. And most importantly—surround yourself with people who remind you of your strength. That’s what helped me. Your crown may not be gold and diamonds—but it’s in your heart. Wear it proudly.

From a small town in Ukraine to a national stage in the United States, Adriana Pushchak’s story is not just about beauty. It’s about belief, transformation, and quiet determination. As she begins her reign as Ms. Petite USA Universe 2025, one thing is certain—this is only the beginning of a much bigger legacy.

Dances, Art, & Private Parties: Interview with Anastasia Ori

By: Olga Amraie

Interviewer: Anastasia, tell us how you began your career in Los Angeles.

Anastasia Ori: Initially, I came to Los Angeles at the invitation of a close friend who suggested I participate in the “Miss Russian LA” beauty pageant. One of the stages was a creative contest where I performed an oriental dance. My performance made a strong impression on the audience and the jury, which included stars of American cinema and other celebrities. I won a prize and received an offer from one of the agencies to stay and work in the USA.

Interviewer: What motivated you to stay and develop your career in the USA?

Anastasia Ori: I was inspired by the positive reaction from the audience and the opportunity to work in such a creative and diverse environment. Oriental dance has always been my passion, and I saw a lot of potential for growth and development here. Moreover, the support from my team and the desire to create something unique and beautiful for people played a key role.

Interviewer: Your costumes always amaze with their beauty and artistry. Tell us about the process of creating them.

Anastasia Ori: Creating a costume is really a whole process. We start with sketches, then select the materials such as silk, velvet, lace, and others. It takes 4-5 months to create one costume. I never skimp on materials and always strive to create something unique and memorable. My costumes not only adorn the performances but also match the level of the audience at private parties, where every element must be impeccable.

Interviewer: Your work includes performances at private parties. What moments have been most memorable?

Anastasia Ori: There are many memorable moments. Each event is unique due to its energy and cultural characteristics. For example, a henna party is a loud and colorful party on the eve of a wedding, where the bride says goodbye to her family home. Also, a recent performance at a big birthday party in Las Vegas was unforgettable. Such places always have a special atmosphere, and we love to travel and work under such conditions.

Interviewer: How do you maintain a high level of your work?

Anastasia Ori: I always try to improve my professional level. I take master classes, continuously learn, and strive for perfection. Consistency is the key to success in any business. Don’t be afraid to make yourself known; it’s better to be rejected, but at least you tried. It’s important to rely on your own strengths and give yourself time to recover. And, of course, a smile is an important element of success.

Interviewer: What principles form the basis of your approach to work?

Anastasia Ori: The first principle is quality. I always think through everything down to the smallest details and demand organization from the dancers. A personalized approach to each client also plays an important role. It’s important to listen to the client’s requests, offer your ideas, and sometimes persuade, if necessary. And, of course, energy. I put my soul into every performance and love my job with all my heart.

Interviewer: Have you ever thought about switching to something else?

Anastasia Ori: Never. I love my team very much and plan to scale this project. I see the feedback and want to do even more for people. This is my passion, and I can’t imagine myself in another field.

Interviewer: What are your future plans?

Anastasia Ori: We plan to scale up and work at the state level with different cities in the Los Angeles County. We have many ideas and projects that we want to implement. But most importantly – to continue to delight our clients and create unforgettable moments for them.

Interviewer: Anastasia, what advice would you give to aspiring dancers and artists?

Anastasia Ori: Always improve your professional level. Take master classes.

Let’s Talk Tyler Perry’s Ruthless Season 3! What was is like for you tapping into the role of Cult-Member “Josiah”?

It was fun & rewarding. Even before Mr. Perry brought me back & I went from “Cult Member” to “Josiah”, deep down I knew I was always Josiah.

Did you find any similarities between you and him?

Yes, I did. Josiah is loyal, helpful, and a hopeless romantic (so am I). He’s initially at The Compound like everyone else, to feel accepted & loved.

Is there something that surprised you about Josiah?

I did not expect Josiah to catch feelings for Zane, or anyone for that matter, but he did.

What was it like working with Tyler Perry?

Fast & freeing. Because Mr. Perry films so fast (north of 115 pages a day), I went into each scene having a solid idea of what I wanted to do, but then the complete freedom to play with my scene partners and create something together.

Do you have a favorite moment or Scene working with him?

Absolutely! One day I was walking out of The Compound and Mr. Perry happened to be walking, alone, back into it. We were about 10 seconds from passing each other so in my mind I began to prepare for him to simply smile & say “Hello” after which I’d say “Hello, sir” and then that would be it. However, as we approached each other he looked up at me, smiled and said “hey, great job today”. I had to mentally pinch myself to keep from being totally speechless (lol). I responded “wow, thank you sir”. Around midnight when I was home & picture-wrapped, I received a phone call from the AD: “Hey, so Mr. Perry likes you and is going to bring you back”. Thank you Mr. Perry!

Do you have a favorite Ruthless character?

If so, why?

The Elder Mother is the embodiment of the Rakudushis. She is also freaking hilarious!

If you were stuck on an island with 3 ruthless cast members who would they be and why?

Zane, for love. Ruth, for order & figuring out a way to get off the island. And Wilson (from the movie Cast Away), because you can’t be stuck on an island and NOT have Wilson (lol).

Is TJ Jackson Single?

Yes, I am.

Are there any KEY things you look for in a relationship?

I am looking for a woman I can build, grow, and win with. Someone who understands that we are two individuals choosing to partner up and take on this thing called life, together.

Do you have a celebrity crush?

I do actually. Zendaya

If you could be anyone for one day, who and why?

I’d love to have Denzel Washington as my personal & professional mentor. So if that never happens then I’d like to be him for one day to pick my own brain, and learn everything I need to know for a long & successful career in this industry.

Millions have watched you in Films and TV shows, what piece of advice would you give aspiring actors?

Learn to love who you are (flaws and all), and know that you are enough.

If you could work with any actor and director who and why? (Dead or Alive)

I would’ve loved for Spike Lee to direct a film called “Able” where I play the role of Abel, the late Chadwick Boseman plays my brother Cain, and our father Adam is played by Denzel Washington. Just…wow.

What’s something most would be surprised to learn about you?

The scar I have on my face is a result of me running from a whooping when I was a child (lol). I was running around the living room glass table when I slipped and fell on the corner of it. Coincidentally, my father has a scar from a similar story but on the opposite side of his face. Guess it “runs” in the family (lol).

Outside of Acting, what’s something you genuinely love to do?

I genuinely love helping people learn how to generate & build passive income, especially other actors. I recently started a mentorship program called “The Wealthy Actor” with the purpose of helping others build generational wealth one backyard at a time. I also love playing tennis!

Favorite Quote?

The sky is not the limit, it’s only the beginning…so dream big!

Knowing what you know now, What’s something you would tell your younger self?

Don’t stress over things you can’t control. Focus on what you can control, and what you can’t, say a prayer and give it to God.

What’s next for TJ Jackson? If you can reveal, What can we look forward to seeing you in next?

I literally just finished my first book titled “The Wealthy Actor” on December 31, 2022. I’m really excited about this book and the mentorship program growing & helping as many actors/artists as I can. 2023 is going to be a great year!
